CHANGE. How many cringe just at the mention of this word? Mostly because, it creates tension and stirs up our sense of comfort. As humans, we like knowing. There are some of us who like adventure; however, it’s most likable when it’s on our own terms.
Change is the only constant in life. — Heraclitus
If you have ever worked in management, you may have gotten the chance to experience all possible reactions to change (some you couldn’t even imagine until you witnessed it yourself). But it was one thing that I discovered. Although it may appear that people react to change differently; we all go through the same stages to deal with change. The difference is our mindset for the change. Our mindset determines our attitude and tempo for cycling through the stages of change.
So, to my Polishers, let’s control the things that we can! Remember discussing reframing in Communication in Your Primary Language? There is no dodging CHANGE, but we can see change through a different frame.
Let’s look at the difference:
CHANGE as defined by Merriam-Webster is to make different in some particular: alter, to make radically different, to undergo modification of. synonyms: alter, remake, revamp, revise, redo, makeover
DEVELOPMENT is defined by Merriam-Webster as the act, or process, or result of developing. synonyms: aftereffect, conclusion, outgrowth, outcome, result, sequence
In this Polisher’s Community we have already acknowledged that we have in us what we need for success. We are born with a purpose. No person assigned it to us. So the things that we face in life isn’t changing ANYTHING. It is DEVELOPING us to be that which we are meant to be!
So I welcome my new boss! I welcome relocation! I welcome my child’s independence! I welcome that new career! I welcome new friends! I welcome removal of old friends!
BECAUSE I AM NOT BEING MODIFIED, ALTERED, REVAMPED, CHANGED! I AM BECOMING WHO AM SUPPOSED TO BE. IT IS A SEQUENCE OF RESULTS FOR MY OUTCOME!
